The concept of RSS has always appealed, but I have never been able to successfully integrate the process of using RSS into my daily workflow.
In the past I researched and found many different freeware newsreader programs that I could use from home. I selected the best and tried to set it up at work only to find that the firewall prevented me from setting up feeds. I tried an alternative, using a web-based reader, and this worked fine. But this brings it back to workflow issue - I dont want to have to log in to a website to view my newsfeeds! I want software, or a web browser which has RSS capabilities. I want pop-ups on my screen to alert me about new items. I want, I want, I want.

RSS is a great way to scan lots news quickly. Google Reader and Bloglines work quickly from the desktop, so I read my feeds first thing every morning. Maybe you can identify a single point in the day for your reading too.
